Fire season has come early this year. Keep your home and garden safe. Be sure that tree branches do not overhang your roof. Keep wood away from the house. Irrigate plants growing within 50' of your home. 

 

 

Maintenance

 

Check your irrigation system and be sure that all emitters are working.

Keep watering.

Add a 3" layer of mulch around trees and shrubs to preserve moisture.

Cut back petunias. Deadhead all annuals and roses.

Cut back roses slightly.

Remove and replace annuals that have finished blooming.

Remove the stems of daylilies and agapanthus that have finished blooming.

Don't water native plants now.

Continue harvesting summer vegetables.

 

 

Plant Now

 

Tropicals - bananas, cannas, plumerias, palms, papayas.

Plant seeds of cool season annuals and vegetables.

 

 

Fertilize

 

Tropical plants.

Fuchsias, begonias, water lilies, cymbidiums, ferns, roses.
